Singapore President Commends Ghana’s Economic Leadership

Singapore: President Tharman Shanmugaratnam of Singapore has praised Ghana's President John Dramani Mahama for his leadership in addressing economic challenges and promoting job creation.According to Ghana News Agency, a statement issued by Ghana's Presidency revealed that President Tharman commended President Mahama during bilateral talks between the two leaders in Singapore. President Tharman emphasized the importance of Ghana's success for the prosperity of West Africa and Africa, acknowledging President Mahama's efforts in managing the country's debt and addressing unemployment issues.President Tharman noted that President Mahama's speech at the Africa Singapore Business Forum highlighted the strength of bilateral relations and the necessity of sustainable development for long-term prosperity. He also mentioned a significant development in climate collaboration, with Singapore being the first Asian country to sign an implementation agreement on carbon credits with Ghana, marking Ghana as the first Afr ican nation to enter such an agreement with Singapore.Looking to the future, President Tharman identified agribusiness, product processing, fintech, payment systems, and the development of small and medium-sized enterprises as key areas for enhanced cooperation. He expressed Singapore's readiness to partner with Ghana in mobilizing investment, technology, and skills to drive inclusive growth.President John Mahama is currently on a three-day State Visit to Singapore and is scheduled to address a Presidential Business Forum on the final day of his visit.
