Security Expert Urges Residents of Anloga, Keta, to Prioritise Safety Amid Rising Crime

Anloga: Dr David Yao Normanyo, a Security Expert, has urged residents of the Anloga and Keta Municipality to prioritise their personal safety and security of their properties, following the spate of robberies and killings in the area.

According to Ghana News Agency, Dr Normanyo emphasised the importance of proactive measures to safeguard lives and property. He noted that victims of these crimes were often inadvertently exposed to criminal activities due to insufficient precautions. Dr Normanyo explained that exposure to potential robbers often occurs when individuals reveal their property or fail to take adequate precautions.

He advised residents to invest time and effort in protecting their assets and themselves, stressing the need for extra measures to secure wealth as diligently as it was acquired. He highlighted that investigations often reveal victims do not do enough to shield themselves or their property.

Dr Normanyo, who is also the Assembly member for the Dzita Electoral Area and a member of the Justice and Security Committee in the Anloga District, called for a collective effort to combat crime in the area. He urged stakeholders, including traditional authorities, to actively support security efforts.

As the Volta Regional Executive Secretary of the National Peace Council, Dr Normanyo commended the Ghana Police Service for their crime-fighting efforts in the area. He encouraged them to increase visibility, particularly on roads and in community hotspots where criminal activities are more likely to occur. Additionally, he called on the Government to provide the necessary logistical support to the security services to effectively fight crime.

Dr Normanyo's call for action highlights the need for collaboration between residents, traditional leaders, and security agencies to ensure peace and safety in Anloga District and Keta Municipality.
