Patasi: Tragedy hit Patasi, one of the affluent communities in the Kumasi Metropolis, when a school bus crashed into a storey-building, killing two people and critically injuring another. The driver of the bus belonging to the Palmer International School was said to have lost control and crashed into the building killing the two instantly.
According to Ghana News Agency, the deceased were identified as Maame Serwaa, 74, and one Alfred, between the ages of 45 and 50 years. An eyewitness, who is a tenant in the house, recounted that the deceased were discussing a plumbing work issue in the house after Maame Serwaa had invited Alfred over to check the plumbing work at the bathroom of the house. She mentioned that the two had just come in front of the house when the tragedy happened.
The eyewitness further stated that the driver of the vehicle informed the people who gathered there after the incident that the brakes of the car failed, leading to the accident. 'It took the intervention of the police and personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) and Ghana Police Service to remove them from the trapped places,' she added.
The individual who sustained injuries has been sent to Suntreso Government Hospital for treatment, whereas the deceased have been taken to the morgue. The Police have commenced investigations into the matter.
