Berekum: Religious leaders in the Berekum East Municipality of the Bono Region have presented waste bins to the Municipal Assembly to enhance waste management and sanitation efforts in the area.
According to Ghana News Agency, Hajia Fatimatu Abubakar, the Berekum East Municipal Chief Executive, stated that the waste bins were procured from the offertory collected during the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving service organized in the municipality. In a media interview, she expressed her appreciation to the religious bodies for their participation and contribution, emphasizing the need for collective support to advance the municipality's development.
Hajia Abubakar highlighted the Assembly's commitment to proper sanitation and waste management, encouraging residents to refrain from littering and the indiscriminate dumping of refuse. This initiative is part of efforts to maintain cleanliness and prevent disease outbreaks in the municipality.
She further announced the launch of the 'Clean Berekum' campaign, aimed at promoting a cleaner and healthier environment. The donated waste bins are expected to significantly contribute to achieving the campaign's objectives. Hajia Abubakar called for public support and active participation in environmental sanitation and sustainability initiatives.
In her remarks, she emphasized the importance of continued collaboration with religious leaders and the broader community to ensure the success of the campaign.
