Accra: The Queenmother of the Akuapem Traditional Area, Nana Afua Nketiaa Obuo II, alongside her elders from Akropong-Akuapem, is set to organize a news conference in Accra on Wednesday, October 8.

According to Ghana News Agency, while the specific venue and agenda are yet to be finalized, the Queenmother's office has emphasized the urgency and high importance of the conference, particularly in the context of the upcoming Odwira Festival. This event is expected to address significant matters related to the governance of the Akuapem Traditional Area.

The Queenmother will be supported by other elders from Akropong, highlighting the collaborative nature of this gathering. A statement distributed to the Ghana News Agency in Accra on Tuesday highlighted the gravity of the issues set to be discussed and the pressing developments within the Akuapem Traditional Area.

As the Maternal Custodian of the Ofori Kuma Heritage, the Okuapehemea plays a crucial role in decision-making within the Akuapem Traditional Area. Her responsibilities include overseeing the selection of the next Okuapehene, a process deeply rooted in Akan Matrilineal customs.
