Accra: President John Dramani Mahama has submitted the first batch of 10 Regional Ministers Nominees to Parliament, through the Speaker, for prior approval.
According to Ghana News Agency, a statement issued by Mr. Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Acting Spokesman of the President, listed the nominees as Mr. Ali Adolf John, Northern Regional Minister-designate; Mr. John Kwadwo Gyapong, Oti Regional Minister-designate; Mr. James Gunu, Volta Regional Minister-designate; Mrs. Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, Eastern Regional Minister-designate, and Mr. Ibrahim Tia, North East Regional Minister-designate.
The remaining nominees include Dr. Frank Amoakohene, Ashanti Regional Minister-designate; Mr. Akamugri Donatus Atanga, Upper East Regional Minister-designate; Madam Charity Gardiner, Ahafo Regional Minister-designate; Mr. Salisu Be-Awuribe, Savannah Regional Minister-designate, and Madam Linda Ocloo, Greater Accra Regional Minister-designate.
Dr. Frank Amoakohene, the nominee for Ashanti Region, is noted for his expertise in healthcare, governance, and public service. He holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from the University of Ghana, a Doctor of Medical Laboratory Science degree from the University of Development Studies, and an MBA from Accra Business School.
Mr. James Gunu, nominated for the Volta Region, is a media practitioner with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and Masters in Development Communication and Local Government Administration and Organisation. He is the former Municipal Chief Executive for Akatsi.
Mrs. Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, the nominee for Eastern Region, brings experience in governance, education, and community development. She holds an MPhil in Leadership and is pursuing a PhD in Migration. She has served as Presiding Member of the Yilo Krobo Municipal Assembly.
Mr. John Kwadwo Gyapong, nominated for Oti Region, is a Business Executive and former Member of Parliament for the Akan Constituency. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Education.
Mr. Akamugri Donatus Atanga, nominee for Upper East Region, has a Masters in Human Rights and a Bachelor of Education Degree in Social Studies and Mathematics. He has served as Coordinator of the National School Feeding Programme.
Mr. Ali Adolf John, for the Northern Region, has served in educational roles such as Tutor and Circuit Supervisor. He holds a Bachelor of Education and Masters in Technology.
Madam Charity Gardiner, nominated for Ahafo Region, is a businessperson with experience in human resource management and humanitarian work, particularly in girl child education and empowerment.
Mr. Salisu Be-Awuribe, the nominee for Savannah Region, is a Law Lecturer and Development Expert with a background in law and land economy. He has served as District Chief Executive of the Central Gonja District.
Madam Linda Ocloo, nominated for Greater Accra Region, is the Member of Parliament for the Shai-Osudoku constituency and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Administration.
Mr. Ibrahim Tia, nominated for North East Region, has expertise in public health finance and local government. He has worked with the National Health Insurance Scheme and holds multiple qualifications in ICT, management studies, and project management.
