Accra: President John Dramani Mahama on Tuesday signed the book of condolence opened in honor of the late former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, who passed away on October 23 at the age of 76.
According to Ghana News Agency, the President, accompanied by his wife, First Lady Lordina Mahama, and other government officials, visited the residence of the late First Lady to express their condolences to the Agyeman-Rawlings family in Accra.
In his message, President Mahama wrote, "Ghana is proud of your achievements in your 19 solid years as First Lady and mother of the nation. While we are all saddened by your passing, we celebrate your life. It's been unsettling that you passed when we were just about planning the fifth anniversary and funeral rites for our former President Jerry John Rawlings, your husband. You have fought a good fight and deserve a peaceful rest."
The late Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, along with her late husband, former President Jerry John Rawlings, is survived by their four adult children: Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, the current Member of Parliament for Klottey-Korle Constituency, Greater Accra Region; Yaa Asantewaa; Amina; and Kimathi; as well as grandchildren.
