Accra: The Ghana Police Service has successfully received a fugitive robber from the Togolese Police Force (TPF), marking the end of a search that began in 2022. The handover took place on May 12, 2025, at approximately 0830 hours.

According to Ghana News Agency, suspect Adinda Akpo Abdul Mugibo was arrested on January 30, 2023, and underwent formalities until his transfer to Ghana was finalized on May 12. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Lydia Yaako Donkor, Director General of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), revealed in a press briefing that Mugibo, captured on CCTV, targeted affluent residential areas in Accra, including Ridge, Tesano, East Legon, Airport Residential Area, and Adjirigano.

Known by aliases such as Rashid Bawa, Maxwell, Papa Rich, or Dawa, the suspect held both Ghanaian and Togolese identifications. He was apprehended in Lome, Togo, through a joint operation involving the TPF, Interpol, and the Ghana Police Service. On October 3, 2023, CCTV footage of his activities was shared on Facebook to announce his wanted status.

Mugibo's criminal activities spanned from 2022 to 2024, and his accomplice, Alidu Mazok, was arrested and remanded by the Adabraka District Court on September 4, 2024. Despite a bench warrant issued for his arrest, Mugibo evaded capture and went into hiding in Togo, Ivory Coast, and Nigeria.

The CID team, led by DCOP Donkor, in collaboration with the Ghana Air Force, completed the necessary formalities to bring the suspect back to Ghana. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend other accomplices still at large. "We know where you are, we are coming for you," the CID Boss asserted.
