According to Ghana News Agency, a statement issued revealed that eight officers sustained gunshot wounds during the chieftaincy clash. They were promptly rushed to the Sampa Government Hospital where they received treatment and were subsequently discharged. However, one officer who suffered a head injury was referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for further treatment.

A copy of the statement, signed by Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, the Bono Regional Police Public Relations Officer, and made available to the Ghana News Agency in Sunyani, explained that the clash between the two traditional feuding factions occurred on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at the Sampa main market. The statement also noted that relative calm has since returned to the town, with the police having increased security patrols.

The statement indicated that the police received a distress call about an exchange of gunfire between the two factions, which resulted in the burning of several stores within the market area. A team of police personnel was immediately dispatched to the scene to maintain law and order. During the operation, a team of police personnel escorting the fire service tender sustained gunshot wounds.

In the incident, the service vehicle with Registration Number GP 686 veered into a ditch. The statement assured the public that the police are working tirelessly to arrest and bring the perpetrators to justice.
