PNC Lauds President Mahama’s Economic Performance

Abesim: Mr Bernard Mornah, leader of the People's National Convention (PNC), praised President John Dramani Mahama's government performance over the weekend, highlighting the stabilisation and appreciation of the Ghana Cedi against major international currencies.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Mornah noted that the stabilisation of the cedi and a decline in inflation figures have led to a marginal reduction in food item prices. In his remarks, he expressed support for a change in government in the upcoming Election 2024, yet acknowledged that President Mahama had not failed the nation.

During a media interaction at the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the PNC held at Abesim, near Sunyani, Mr Mornah commended the President's administration for its efforts in transforming the nation's economic fortunes, ultimately improving the socio-economic conditions of ordinary citizens.

Despite the commendation, Mr Mornah suggested that a PNC government could have achieved more if given the chance in Ghana's Election 2024. He revealed that the party is re-strategising and considering a merger with other Nkrumahist political parties to enhance their impact and potential for winning political power in Election 2028.

Furthermore, Mr Mornah emphasized the importance of the government acquiring 50 percent shares in all foreign companies to bolster the nation's economic prospects and create a resilient and stable economy. Meanwhile, Mr Sampson Asaki Awimgobet, the National Chairman of the PNC, urged regional and constituency executives to work diligently to enhance the party's appeal at the grassroots level.
