Out-going NADMO Director Urges Resilient Systems to Tackle Disaster Vulnerabilities

Sunyani: Mr Rasheed Konlaabig, the out-going Bono Regional Director of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), has urged personnel to help build strong and resilient systems in tackling disaster vulnerabilities, prevention, and management. He advised the staff to remain innovative, cooperative, and reflective on past experiences while supporting the incoming Regional Director in conducting risk assessments to minimize disaster vulnerabilities in the region.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Konlaabig provided this advice during the handover of official documents to Madam Fati Kine Lam, the incoming Director, at a staff meeting in Sunyani. He emphasized the importance of being proactive and responsive in addressing disasters and encouraged the directorate to intensify efforts in public education on disaster prevention. Mr Konlaabig assured the team that he would remain available to assist in effectively managing and preventing disasters in the region.

Madam Lam, on her part, reminded the personnel that NADMO is a disaster management organization and not merely a relief entity. She urged them to enhance their efforts in responding to disasters. After reviewing Regional, District, and Zonal reports on fire, storm, and related disasters, Madam Lam commended the out-going director and staff for their efforts. She called on personnel to put aside political affiliations in their duties, emphasizing the importance of working in the supreme interest of the region and the nation at large.
