Okumanini Leads Clean-Up Effort in Assin Fosu

Assin Fosu: Okumanini Baffour Asare Kyeahene II, Effutuakwamanhene, has organised a clean-up exercise in the Assin Fosu Municipality to clear the area of filth ahead of the celebration of Akwasidae. The initiative aimed to beautify public spaces and create a festive atmosphere for the traditional ceremony, bringing together residents, community groups, and local authorities.

According to Ghana News Agency, the exercise saw participants armed with brooms, shovels, and trash bags working diligently to clean streets, drains, and public spaces. The effort was also aimed at raising awareness about the dangers of cholera, which has emerged in some regions.

During an interview with Ghana News Agency following the clean-up, Okumanini Asare emphasized the importance of community involvement in maintaining environmental hygiene. He highlighted that cholera is a highly infectious and potentially deadly disease, often caused by poor sanitation, contaminated food and water, and inadequate waste management.

Okumanini Asare remarked, "We cannot rely solely on government interventions to keep our communities safe, and as residents, we must take ownership of our environment and work together to prevent the spread of diseases like cholera."
