NPP Chairman Advocates for Bawumia’s Leadership in 2028 Election

Techiman: It will be unfair to deny Bawumia the second chance, according to Mr. Ibrahim Bukari Baba, the Bono East Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). Mr. Baba emphasized the importance of allowing former Vice President Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia another opportunity to lead the party in the 2028 election.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Baba highlighted Dr. Bawumia's competencies and integrity demonstrated during his tenure as vice president and as the party's 2024 presidential candidate. Speaking to the media in Techiman, he urged NPP delegates to make informed decisions and support Dr. Bawumia in the party's flagbearer election scheduled for January 31, 2026.

Mr. Baba's remarks followed the conclusion of a four-day campaign tour by Dr. Bawumia's Bono East Regional campaign team. He noted that the tour aimed to showcase the former vice president's potential and garner support from NPP delegates as the party prepares for the Presidential Primary.

He asserted that the NPP should once again present Alhaji Dr. Bawumia as its flagbearer for the 2028 election, citing his proven track record. Mr. Baba expressed that the party's history of repeating flagbearers supports the case for Dr. Bawumia's candidacy.

While welcoming all five presidential aspirants contesting the primary, Mr. Baba maintained that Dr. Bawumia is the best choice for the NPP to regain political power in the 2028 election. He noted that analyses indicate that with Dr. Bawumia, the party's path to reclaiming power would be more straightforward.

Mr. Baba concluded by advising delegates to resist financial or material influences and instead be guided by the NPP's political history. He urged them to vote decisively for Alhaji Dr. Bawumia in the upcoming polls.
