Accra: The National Tescon Patrons for DMB2028, comprising members of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) and lecturers within the tertiary education sector, have visited Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia at his campaign office in Ridge, Accra.
According to Ghana News Agency, the visit was led by Mr. Micheal Appiah, also known as Sasa from Takoradi Technical University, with the aim of renewing support for Dr. Bawumia's campaign team. The group emphasized their commitment to utilizing data-driven research and effective communication strategies to promote the vision and ideas of the NPP's potential flagbearer.
Additionally, the National Tescon Patrons for DMB2028 assured their support for Tescon, the NPP's student group on tertiary campuses, to enhance the party's visibility. The group, convened by Dr. Bernard B.B. Bingag of the University of Education Winneba, includes lecturers from various tertiary institutions across Ghana, such as traditional universities, technical universities, and colleges of education and nursing. These lecturers, who are also patrons of the tertiary students' confederacy, have expressed their backing for Dr. Bawumia in the upcoming presidential primaries scheduled for January 31, 2026.
During the meeting, discussions centered around the lecturers' roles in securing victory in the presidential primaries and the 2028 election campaign. Dr. Bawumia expressed his gratitude for their support, pledging to recognize and reward loyalty.
Mr. Appiah, a lecturer at Takoradi Technical University, Chairman of Patriotic Intellectuals Ghana, and a campaign team member for Dr. Bawumia in the Western Region, encouraged the group to work diligently towards achieving their victory target in 2028.
