Nanton MP’s Donation Enhances Health Care Services in Constituency

Nanton: Dr Mohammed Sheriff Abdul Haliq, the Member of Parliament for Nanton Constituency in the Northern Region, has donated essential medical equipment to the Nanton District Health Directorate. The donation includes adult and baby weighing scales, delivery beds, radiant warmers, hospital beds, emergency resuscitation trolleys, examination lamps, and digital thermometers, aimed at improving health care services in the constituency.

According to Ghana News Agency, Dr Haliq emphasized that this gesture is part of his commitment to enhance health care delivery in the constituency and support the government's broader agenda to strengthen the health care system. He stated that the initiative aligns with the National Democratic Congress' manifesto and President John Mahama's belief that 'Health is wealth.' Dr Haliq highlighted the government's move to uncap the National Health Insurance Levy, ensuring consistent funding for the health sector, which aims to make health care accessible to all Ghanaians.

Dr Haliq also announced plans to collaborate with the Nanton District Assembly to upgrade selected health centers to clinic status. This upgrade will enable them to manage more complex medical cases, reducing the need for patients to travel to other towns for treatment. He reaffirmed his commitment to his constituents, promising significant investment in the health sector over the next four years to bring health care closer to the people.

Dr Sheba Kunfah, the Nanton District Director of Health, expressed gratitude to the MP for the donation and assured that the equipment would be used effectively to improve health care delivery in the area. She also highlighted the need for additional support, mentioning that the Directorate currently has only seven functional motorbikes for outreach services and appealed for further assistance to strengthen health care, especially in remote communities.
