Muslims Acting Contrary to Islamic Teachings Are Enemies of Allah – Imam

Ada East: Mr Yusif Abdulai Korley, the Imam of the Kasseh Central Mosque in Ada East District, has stated that individuals identifying as Muslims but behaving contrary to Islamic teachings are considered enemies of Allah. Speaking with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) during the Eid-al-Adha celebrations, Imam Korley highlighted that the Qur'an condemns actions promoting violence and bloodshed, describing such individuals as 'murderers of the world.'

According to Ghana News Agency, Imam Korley emphasized that those who bear Muslim names but live against the values and commandments set by Allah are not true followers of Islam. He stressed that 'Islam means peace, and anyone who promotes conflict, riot, or war is an enemy of the religion.' Imam Korley further explained that Eid-al-Adha is not just a time for celebration but a period for reflection on the importance of sacrifice, based on the covenant Prophet Ibrahim had with Allah. He also expressed concern that many Muslims may lack a full understanding of Islamic principles and urged them to reflect on the true meaning of the religion and abide by its teachings.

'The Qur'an forbids actions that lead to the shedding of innocent blood,' Imam Korley stated, adding that individuals committing such acts should not be allowed to mingle with fellow Muslims. Mr Yakubu Sulemana, spokesperson for the Muslim community in Kasseh, echoed these sentiments, expressing concerns about the increasing involvement of Muslim youth in social vices like theft, armed robbery, and substance abuse, particularly the rising use of opioids.

Mr Sulemana noted that these acts are clearly prohibited by the Holy Qur'an and lamented the sight of young Muslims engaging in them. He likened Muslims to 'a white cloth' that easily shows stains when soiled, stating that when a Muslim commits an offence, it becomes visible to the entire world, whereas their good deeds often go unnoticed.

Mr Sulemana urged Muslim youth across the country to seriously study the Qur'an and Hadith to guide their lives and actions in a way that pleases Allah.
