Moscow Bans 15 EU Media Outlets as Counter-Restrictions

Moscow: Moscow has decided to impose reciprocal restrictions on 15 European media outlets, operating in Russia, in response to EU sanctions against several Russian media outlets, the Russian Foreign Ministry said Monday.

According to Ghana News Agency, these counter-restrictions are in response to the EU's recent sanctions on eight Russian publications and information channels. The EU Council had approved these restrictions as part of the 16th sanctions package introduced in February this year. In retaliation, Russia has targeted the web resources of 15 media outlets from EU member states, accusing them of spreading disinformation.

The Russian Foreign Ministry stated that if the restrictions on Russian media outlets and information channels are lifted by the EU, Russia will reconsider its decision regarding the European media outlets.
