Morgan International Community School: Morgan International Community School (MICS) has held its 12th Awards and 9th Graduation Ceremony, with a call on graduates to pursue life with purpose and passion.
According to Ghana News Agency, a total of nine students graduated with Diploma Certificates under an International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). The event was themed 'Beyond the Horizon: Navigating the Future with Purpose and Passion.'
Dean of School of Creative Arts at the University of Education Winneba (SCA-UEW), Professor Emmanuel Obed Acquah, speaking as Guest Speaker, reminded them that life does not always present smooth sailing but may at times be stormy. Therefore, one must be purposeful and passionate in their endeavors to achieve their purpose.
He metaphorically described the graduation stage as the graduates' shoreline, where they are "stepping into your boat, ready to sail into the deep." He explained that standing at the shore and looking out to sea might give the impression they were staring at the end of the ocean, known as the horizon. "It looks like the end of the world, but it's not. If you sail beyond it, you will find even more ocean, more life, and more adventure. That is exactly what life is like," he said.
Prof Acquah advised that the sea of life is not always calm. "Sometimes it will rock your boat. You may even get soaked. But if you sail with purpose with your compass and passion as your wind, you will keep moving forward, no matter what the waves throw at you." He urged the graduates to be purposeful and passionate in their career pursuits.
The Acting Head of MICS, Rev Obed Danquah, highlighted that the graduates had gone beyond the standard curriculum and engaged in research that met the standards of a master's degree. He encouraged students to adopt key principles, including taking responsibility for their actions, learning to live a balanced life, and the Theory of Knowledge (TOK).
All the graduates received scholarships worth thousands of dollars to study abroad and were honored with awards for outstanding academic performances.
