Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park Governing Board Inaugurated, Urged to Serve with Integrity

Accra: Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, has inaugurated the newly constituted Governing Board of the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, calling on members to serve with integrity, professionalism, and a strong sense of national duty. She emphasized the board's critical role in ensuring the park's sustainability, development, and alignment with national cultural and tourism priorities.

According to Ghana News Agency, the Minister highlighted the significance of the board's strategic leadership in resource management and emphasized the importance of transparency, accountability, and collaboration with stakeholders. She expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for appointing a competent and visionary team and expressed confidence in their capacity to protect and enhance the legacy of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana's first President and a Pan-African luminary.

The Minister also thanked the board members for accepting the responsibility to oversee one of Ghana's most significant national heritage institutions. Madam Anne Asantewaa Sackey, Board Chair, described the appointment as a profound honour and responsibility, underscoring the park's importance as a sacred national site dedicated to preserving and showcasing Dr. Nkrumah's legacy.

Madam Sackey stated the board's mission to preserve the legacy of the park while enhancing it as a world-class destination for education, inspiration, and tourism. She noted the global relevance of Nkrumah's legacy, reflected in more than 40,000 scholarly publications and tens of thousands of monthly visits to his Wikipedia page.

Mr. Joseph Kwasi Amoah, Chief Director of the Ministry, congratulated the board members and acknowledged their crucial role in ensuring the effectiveness and sustainability of the institution. He remarked on the necessity of a governing board for the completeness of the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park's mission.

Other members of the board include Mr. Collins R. Nunyonameh Ph.D, Dr. Michael Mensah, Mr. Paul Parker Atitsogbui ESQ, Mr. Abraham Eghan, Mr. Bob Denis Ahiagble, Madam Fafa Afua Adinyra, Madam Belinda Alijata Suleman, and Mr. Awudu Lah Jnr. Baguah.
