Zurich: Mr Kurt Okraku, the President of the Ghana Football Association, has been appointed as the Chairperson of the FIFA Anti-Racism and Anti-Discrimination Committee. Mr Okraku will lead FIFA's efforts and reforms aimed at combating racism in football over the next four years. The GFA President would be deputised by Mr Mark Wade of Bermuda, alongside 19 other members from various member FIFA Associations. Mr Okraku's appointment marks a significant step by the football administrator who has a vision to use football as a tool for unity and social transformation.According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Prosper Harrison Addo, General Secretary of the GFA, has been appointed as a Member of the FIFA Legal Committee and would serve a four-year term from 2025-2029. This is an honour for the Ghanaian legal practitioner who has made contributions to football administration and governance. The FIFA Legal Committee, one of FIFA's key Standing Committees, is responsible for advising and assisting the FIFA Council on legal matters, including statutory interpretations, regulatory frameworks, and governance issues within global football. The Committee is chaired by Elvis Chetty of Seychelles, with Michael Llamas of Gibraltar serving as the Deputy Chairperson.Mr Addo was part of the FIFA Team that put together the FIFA General Secretaries Handbook and also part of the team that worked on the FIFA Clearing House Regulations. Prior to his appointment as GFA General Secretary in 2020, he served as Senior Manager, Compliance at Scancom PLC (MTN Ghana), where he also previously held the position of Manager, Commercial Legal. Mr Addo holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) Law and Economics degree from the University of Ghana, Legon, and an MBA from the Salford Business School, University of Salford in Manchester, United Kingdom. He holds many other certificates in law, governance, and administration.He has served as Chairman of the GFA Disciplinary Committee of the Greater Accra Regional FA and also the National Disciplinary Committee, membe r of the FA Cup Committee, and member of the GFA Legal Committee, among others. His background in football governance and legal administration has earned him respect within the football fraternity. He is a member of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) and the Institute of Public Relations (IPR), Ghana, where he is an associate member.
