Krachi East Municipal Assembly to Distribute Essential Items to Over 100 Persons With Disabilities

Accra: The Krachi East Municipal Assembly, through the Department of Social Welfare, is set to distribute essential items to over 100 Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) in the municipality on August 28. These items, valued in thousands of Ghana cedis, are part of a government initiative aimed at supporting PWDs and promoting their welfare.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Seth Kumah, Assistant to the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Krachi East, stated that the items are funded by the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF). The DACF allocation is a government initiative designed to reduce poverty among PWDs by providing necessary financial and material support for economic development, education, and healthcare.

Mr. Kumah mentioned that the items include fufu machines, individual sewing machines, deep freezers, and other essential equipment. He highlighted that in the past, the fund had not been utilized for its intended purpose, thereby denying beneficiaries its benefits.

Mr. Kumah expressed the commitment of the new leadership of the Assembly, led by MCE Mr. Safo Nketia, who has identified these issues and assured that the funds will be disbursed properly. The beneficiaries are expected to gain significantly from the equipment, which is anticipated to enhance their productivity, efficiency, and income-generating capacity.
