Keta MP Supports Flood Affected Communities with Essential Items

Keta: Mr. Kwame Dzudzorli Gakpey, the Member of Parliament for Keta Constituency in the Volta Region, has extended support to flood-affected victims in the Lawoshime Electoral Area of the municipality. The assistance includes essential items such as two boxes of Wellington boots, a box of cutlasses, blankets, used clothes, and a canoe, benefiting communities including Hagodzi, Songbe, Mamime, Lawoshime, and Agorvinu.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Wonder Setsoafia Deynu, the Keta National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) Director, handed over the donations on behalf of the MP. He expressed that the support aims to alleviate the challenges faced by the victims. Deynu also mentioned that NADMO has contributed additional relief items, including four life jackets, to ensure safe transportation during floods and enhance resident safety, particularly for those using canoes.

Mr. Deynu highlighted the community's appreciation for the acts of generosity from the MP, individuals, and various organizations, which demonstrate the strong community spirit and shared responsibility within the Keta municipality. The ongoing efforts by NADMO and other supporters are focused on reducing the impact of the floods and providing relief to the affected areas.

Commendation was extended to Mr. Wisdom Seade, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Keta, for repairing two damaged canoes donated by the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT). These canoes are vital for school children, teachers, and residents in the flood-affected areas. Mr. Daniel Kwame Draphor, CEO of Splendid Hotel at Keta, also contributed by donating two canoes through the Anlo United Foundation, along with financial support for painting, transportation, and repairs.

Mr. Deynu emphasized the critical role of NADMO in managing disaster situations, including floods, through public education, emergency response, and community support. He called for further assistance from individuals and corporate organizations to support the flood victims through Keta NADMO.

Mr. Israel Mensah, the Assembly Member of the area, received the items on behalf of the communities, expressing gratitude to the donors and ensuring that the donations will be utilized effectively.
