Tamale: Some individuals and organisations making significant impact in the northern sector of the country have been awarded at this year's Northern Excellence Awards held in Tamale.
According to Ghana News Agency, the awardees included Buipewura Abdulai Jinapor, Vice President of the National House of Chiefs and Paramount Chief of Buipe Traditional Area, who received the Development Oriented Chief of the Year award. Mr. Attah Issah, Member of Parliament for Sagnarigu Constituency, was honoured with the People's MP of the Year Award. Dr. Tiah Abdul-Kabiru Mahama, MP for Walewale Constituency, received recognition as the Emerging Political Leader and Advocate for Youth Empowerment. Investigative journalist Mr. Manasseh Azure Awuni was named the most influential media personality of the decade, while Miss Alimatu Bawah Wiabriga, Co-Founder of Cowtribe, was awarded Social Entrepreneur of the Year.
Other recipients included Miss Maltiti Sayida Sadick, a journalist with the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, who received the Most Promising Media Personality of the Year award. Mr. Yakubu Abdul-Karim, Founder and Executive Director of Baron Healing Hearts Foundation, was honoured with the Community Impact and Humanitarian Service Award.
Additional awardees were Kodu Technology, which received the Social Innovation Enterprise of the Year award, and the Total Life Enhancement Centre, which was recognised for Excellence in Mental Health Advocacy and Psychosocial Development Organisation of the Year. Dabokpa Technical Institute was named Community Innovation and Technical Transformation School of the Year. Dame Anna-Maria Fati Paul, CEO of Fachi Little Flower School Complex Ltd, was celebrated for Educational Excellence and Community Impact. Mr. Felix Sangteeh, CEO of Majesty Galazy Ghana Ltd, earned the Emerging Business Personality of the Year award, while Alhaji Alhassan Sofwan, CEO of Alsofwan Engineering and Construction Company Ltd, received the Tradition and Development Advocate Award.
Alhaji Hussein Yushaw Fuzak, CEO of Fuzak Construction Company, was recognised with the Community Builder and Social Impact Award. Dr. Arnold Mashud Abukari, Executive Director of AfriTech Hub, was honoured as the Outstanding Youth Achiever in Digital Empowerment and Civic Impact, and Aisha Hospital received the Community Health Development Award.
The Northern Excellence Awards is an annual initiative by the Celebrities Charity Development Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation committed to acknowledging and celebrating individuals and organisations that are making significant impact in the northern sector of the country. Mr. Alhassan Abdul-Latif, Executive Director of the foundation, stated that the awards aim to highlight the achievements of both established and emerging personalities whose work has created positive social and economic impact in communities across the north.
Mr. Peter Mintir Amadu, Executive Director of Total Life Enhancement Centre, expressed his gratitude to the Governing Board of the Northern Excellence Awards for the recognition, noting that it would encourage them to continue contributing to the development of society.
