Jasikan: Mr Kennedy Akoto, the Assemblyman for Nsuta East Electoral Area, has made a fervent appeal to the Jasikan Municipal Assembly to resume and complete the long-abandoned Ketsi M/A Basic School classroom block. The construction project, initially launched in 2018, has been left incomplete, thereby impacting the learning environment at the school.According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Akoto expressed his concerns during the agency's visit to the school, emphasizing how the stalled project, funded by the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund), has remained abandoned for reasons unknown even to the community's Chief and opinion leaders. Mr Akoto, who assumed office in January 2024 after his December 2023 election victory, has actively engaged with local leaders and former municipal authorities to address the issue.Mr Akoto recounted a meeting with Mrs Elizabeth Kesewaa Adjornor-Anim, the then Jasikan Municipal Chief Executive, where they were assured of the project's completion. However, no progress was made during her tenure. He stressed the urgent need for the six-unit classroom block's completion to safeguard school property from intruders and enhance the academic environment. The Assemblyman highlighted the potential benefits of completing the project, noting that a well-equipped and secure learning space could significantly improve academic performance. Students in a conducive environment often achieve better educational outcomes. When contacted by the Ghana News Agency, Mr James Awopayi, the Jasikan Municipal Co-ordinating Director and Caretaker MCE, acknowledged his previous unawareness of the situation. He committed to engaging with the Assembly's Engineers to find a resolution to the problem.Currently, Ketsi M/A Basic School, established approximately sixty years ago, serves 150 students from Basic one to Basic nine with the support of ten teachers. The school continues to operate under challenging conditions due to the uncompleted classroom block.
