Hannah Awadzi Awarded for Championing Disability Child Right

Accra: Mrs. Hannah Awadzi, Online Editor at the Ghana News Agency, was awarded by the Ghana Federation of Disability Organisations (GFD) for her efforts in promoting disability child rights and inclusion.According to Ghana News Agency, the award was presented at the inaugural GFD Excellence Award, recognizing individuals and organizations that contribute to building a foundation for inspiration, inclusion, advocacy, accessibility, and empowerment, while also upholding the rights of persons with disabilities in Ghana and beyond. The event coincided with the celebration of the National Day of Persons with Disability and gathered policymakers, stakeholders, members of the disability community, and the public. This year's theme was 'Advancing Inclusion through Education.'The event emphasized Section 18 of the Disability Act (Act 715) and Article 24 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disability (UNCRPD), focusing on the right to inclusive and quality education for persons with disab ilities.Mrs. Hannah Awadzi is also the Executive Director of Inclusive Family Alliance, an organization dedicated to championing inclusion and empowering persons with disabilities, particularly children with cerebral palsy. Her organization offers peer mentoring, coaching, and counseling for families of children with disabilities, along with a referral system to guide parents on where to seek help and support.The Inclusive Family Alliance provides tailored information packages for families of children with disabilities in Ghana, often directing them to appropriate support systems or services.Mrs. Awadzi expressed gratitude to the GFD for the recognition and affirmed her commitment to collaborating with the GFD and other stakeholders to ensure Ghana becomes an inclusive society for all persons with disabilities and their families.
