Accra: Mr. Kofi Atta Kakra Kusi, Deputy Director, Corporate Affairs, Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), has been honoured for his support and contributions to the International Edition of the Accra Arts and Crafts Market. The honour was conferred by the Management of the Accra Arts and Crafts Market, led by its Manager, Mr. Adnan Mohammed, and Deputy Manager, Mr. Wango Abdul Karimu, during a Gala and Awards Night marking the close of the 10-day market and exhibition.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Kusi received a citation of honour for his role in enhancing the event's visibility through strategic marketing and public relations initiatives. He also fostered partnerships that elevated the international edition's profile. The 2025 International Edition of the Accra Arts and Crafts Market, held from 17th to 26th October, gathered artisans, designers, and creators from Ghana and across Africa to celebrate the continent's creativity, craftsmanship, and cultural heritage. Participating countries included Nigeria, Togo, Benin, Burkina Faso, and Niger.
The event, themed 'From local hands to the global stage,' promoted Ghanaian and African-made products while supporting small and medium-sized entrepreneurs to explore export opportunities. Patrons, including locals, diasporans, diplomats, and tourists, enjoyed exhibitions of fashion, crafts, art, d©cor, and cuisine, alongside cultural performances and networking sessions. The organisers commended Mr. Kusi for his dedication to promoting arts, culture, and tourism in Ghana, noting that his contributions significantly impacted the market's growth since its inception.
Mr. Kusi expressed gratitude for the recognition and reaffirmed his commitment to promoting Ghana's creative and tourism sectors, describing the honour as motivation to continue advancing Ghanaian culture and craftsmanship globally. An alumnus of Prempeh College, Mr. Kusi holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of Ghana, a Master of Arts in Public Relations from the Ghana Institute of Journalism, and an MBA in Marketing from the Methodist University College Ghana. He also holds a Certificate in Tourism and Hospitality Management from the University of Johannesburg, South Africa.
With over a decade of service to the tourism industry, Mr. Kusi's career has spanned roles, including Board Secretary to the GTA Board of Directors, Special Assistant to the late CEO, Mr. Charles Osei Bonsu, Principal Corporate Affairs Officer, and currently, Deputy Director in charge of Corporate Affairs. Mr. Kusi continues to play a role in several national tourism committees and initiatives aimed at advancing Ghana's image as a premier tourism destination.
The Accra Arts and Crafts Market, held annually for the past eight years, introduced its international edition in 2024. It continues to serve as a bridge between local artisans and global audiences, reinforcing Ghana's reputation as a hub of African creativity and culture.
