Gory Crash on Duayaw-Nkwanta-Bechem Highway Leaves Five People Dead

Duayaw-Nkwanta: Five people have been confirmed dead in a crash that occurred between the Duayaw-Nkwanta and Bechem sections of the Sunyani-Kumasi highway early Wednesday.

According to Ghana News Agency, the bodies have been deposited at the Bechem Government and Duayaw-Nkwanta St John of God Hospitals for preservation and autopsy. Others involved in the crash are in critical condition and receiving treatment at hospitals in the Ahafo Region.

Station Officer Grade Two (STO II) Stephen Kyere of the Tano North Municipal Command of the Ghana National Fire Service reported that the incident occurred at the Bourkrukruwa section of the road around 5:53 AM on Wednesday, March 26, 2025. The crash involved a head-on collision between a private Toyota RAV4, registration 4365-20, and a Kia Rhino truck, registration GT 5335-19.

The Toyota RAV4 was traveling towards Bechem, while the Kia truck was coming from the opposite direction. Mr. Kyere noted that all occupants in the Toyota RAV4 were dressed in funeral clothes, suggesting they were en route to a funeral.
