GNA’s Bertha Badu-Agyei Engages Tema Journalists for Treasurer Position

Tema: Ms Bertha Badu-Agyei, an editor at the Ghana News Agency (GNA) and a candidate for the national treasurer position in the upcoming Ghana Journalists Association's (GJA) elections, has engaged journalists in the Tema Region to discuss her vision for the Association.

According to Ghana News Agency, Ms Badu-Agyei, who is listed as number two on the ballot, presented her W.I.S.E. plan to the journalists. During the interaction, they inquired about issues related to welfare, dues, and other concerns affecting the journalism profession.

Ms Badu-Agyei elaborated on her W.I.S.E. plan, emphasizing her commitment to prioritizing the welfare of GJA members. She stated that ensuring the well-being of members is crucial and would be her main focus if elected as treasurer.

She highlighted the need for income diversification within the GJA. Ms Badu-Agyei proposed unlocking new financial pathways for the Association, suggesting that the undeveloped compound of the press centre could be rented out for social functions to generate additional income for GJA activities.

Furthermore, she stressed the importance of strengthening the GJA's register system. Ms Badu-Agyei proposed enhancing transparency, cleaning up records, and implementing an efficient dues collection system to make payments easier, smarter, and more accountable. This, she believes, would encourage voluntary payment among members.
