GJA Releases Guidelines for June 30 Election

Accra: The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has released a comprehensive set of guidelines for its upcoming election scheduled for June 30, 2025. The election will be conducted across various centers nationwide, where members will elect a president and other executives.

According to Ghana News Agency, the guidelines outline specific procedures and expectations for the National and Regional Executive Elections. Voting will occur at designated locations including the Ghana News Agency, Graphic Communications Group, and Ghana International Press Centre in Greater Accra, among others in different regions like Volta, Central, Western, Bono, and Northern.

The voting process will commence at 8:00 am and conclude at 3:00 pm. Identification for voters will be strictly verified through the Ghana Card, Voters I.D. Card, or National Passport, which must contain the photograph and name of the journalist.

Ballot counting and result announcements will follow immediately after the polls close at each center. Each candidate is allowed one polling agent to oversee the process. Regional results will be declared at respective centers and communicated via a platform specified by the GJA Elections Committee.

Results transmission will involve emailing to the Electoral Services Department and WhatsApp messages to a dedicated platform. National results will be collated and declared at the Press Centre in Accra.

The guidelines also specify voting offenses, including voting more than once, vote buying or selling, coercion, obstruction of voting rights, and revealing one's vote through marked ballot papers or photographs.
