Accra: The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Elections Committee has announced plans to hold a virtual briefing for all qualified candidates in the upcoming national and regional elections. The briefing is scheduled for Tuesday, June 24, and aims to provide final clarification on key electoral matters while addressing any outstanding concerns and questions.

According to Ghana News Agency, the statement, signed by Mr. Peter Agbeko, the Elections Committee Chairman, highlighted that the briefing would cover issues related to the voters' register, proxy voting procedures, and other candidate concerns. The meeting is intended to reinforce transparency and confidence in the electoral process. Candidates are urged to participate in the online discussions, which are scheduled to take place from 8 pm to 9 pm on Tuesday.

The Elections Committee has approved twelve national candidates and fifty regional candidates for the polls, which are set for Monday, June 30, 2025. The Committee has called for collaboration among stakeholders to ensure the integrity and smooth conduct of the electoral process.

In a previous release, the Committee addressed concerns regarding proxy voting in this year's contest. They emphasized that the procedure is 'grounded in widely recognized electoral best practices' and assured that adequate safeguards are in place to prevent any abuse of the proxy system.
