Gbinyiri Clash Update: Four Internally Displaced Women Give Birth

Wenchi: Four Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) of the Gbinyiri clash sheltered in the Wenchi Municipality have successfully given birth, Mr. Mohammed Sulemana, the Wenchi Municipal Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), has said. He stated that one of the women gave birth to twins, and all the babies and their mothers were in good condition.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Sulemana shared in an interview at Wenchi in the Bono Region that 1,902 of the approximately 2,041 IDPs sheltered in the Municipality have returned to their hometowns. The IDPs had fled their homes in the Salwa/Tuna/Kalba District of the Savannah Region for shelter in the Municipality after a clash erupted over a piece of land on Sunday, August 25, 2025.

Mr. Sulemana also addressed rumors regarding the safety of the IDPs. He clarified that it was untrue that some of the IDPs in the area had died, affirming that all of them were safe. He appealed for more support to ensure their continued well-being.
