GBA Donates Cash, Food Items to Osu Children’s Home

Accra: The Ghana Bar Association (GBA) has donated GHC5,000, assorted food items, and toiletries to the Osu Children's Home in Accra as part of activities marking this year's Mother's Day celebrations. The donation was spearheaded by the GBA Women's Forum and jointly presented by Mrs. Shiela Minkah-Premo, President of the Forum, and Mrs. Afua Ghartey, President of the Association.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mrs. Ghartey noted that the gesture was part of the Association's commitment to giving back to society, especially on a day as significant as Mother's Day. She highlighted that Mother's Day is celebrated nationwide by the Bar, with all regional Bar associations undertaking similar donations to institutions across the country. Mrs. Ghartey emphasized the importance of lawyers engaging with and supporting the vulnerable in their communities.

She also stressed the significance of inspiring the children, expressing hope that some of them may one day become lawyers. Mrs. Ghartey mentioned the Association's four-year tradition of donating to institutions and encouraged other entities, particularly churches, to emulate the GBA's initiative. She urged others to share with those in need to help them progress in life.

Madam Priscilla Asare, a Social Worker at the Home, received the items on behalf of the Manager and expressed gratitude to the GBA for their continued support. She noted that Mother's Day holds special meaning for the children, who are nurtured and groomed by dedicated caregivers at the facility. The Osu Children's Home is a government-run residential facility that caters to the welfare of orphaned and vulnerable children.
