The production of Triple superphosphate (TSP) for agricultural use in

the site of Mdhila1 reached 200,000 tonnes in 2023 – far higher than the quantity produced over the last three years.

The nationa TSP production grew last year to 200,000 tonnes up from 169,000 tonnes in 2022, some 196,000 in 2021 and 148,000 in 2020, Director of Mdhilla unit coming under the Tunisian Chemical Group (French: GCT) Tarek Lassoued told TAP.

This will help meet the needs of the local and global markets, he added. Upgrading works in Mdhila plant helped achieve these positive results.

Fifteen thousand tonnes of triple superphosphate were supplied to the local market and an additional 185,000 tonnes exported to Latin America, Asia and Europe.

GCT forecasts project production will reach 250,000 tonnes in 2024 and 300,000 in 2025.
