Evangelical Presbyterian Church Holds 31st National Delegates Conference in Tema

Accra: The Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana (EPCG), convened its 31st National Delegates Conference in Tema, emphasizing the importance of fostering unity among presbyters to drive national development. The event, which attracted over 100 delegates from across the nation and the diaspora, revolved around the theme: 'Care for Creation: The Role of the Presbyter as a Stakeholder in National Development.'

According to Ghana News Agency, Dr. Anthony Mawutor Atsu, the National President of the Presbyters' Union, highlighted the divine and constitutional responsibilities of presbyters in promoting national growth by protecting the environment, ensuring church accountability, and supporting member welfare. He underscored the significance of caring for human beings as part of creation, emphasizing the importance of the welfare of church agents and members.

Dr. Atsu referenced an incident involving a church agent who suffered an accident after being transferred to a remote area despite health concerns. He described this as a wake-up call for the church to improve transfer policies and pastoral care. He also celebrated the Union's achievements, such as virtual NEC meetings, conflict resolution efforts in the Dayi Presbytery, and the establishment of an endowment fund for supporting bright but needy students and deprived congregations.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, Right Reverend Dr. (Lt Col) Devine Kofi Agbeko (Rtd), Moderator of the General Assembly of the EPCG, praised the presbyters for their contributions to national development through health, education, and rural outreach. He urged them to lead by example and actively contribute to environmental conservation, advocating for policies that preserve Ghana's natural resources for the benefit of all citizens.

The conference served as a platform for presbyters to renew their commitment to being stewards of both spiritual growth and national transformation, with a focus on supporting community welfare and fostering unity.
