Energy Commission’s Renewable Energy Challenge Cultivates Youth Innovation in Ahafo Region

Bechem: Mrs. Eunice Biritwum, the Executive Secretary of the Energy Commission, has emphasized the commission's dedication to nurturing creativity and innovation among the youth through its flagship Renewable Energy Challenge. This initiative aims to bridge the gap between academia and industry within Senior High Schools.According to Ghana News Agency, Mrs. Biritwum's message was delivered by Mr. Julius Nkansah-Nyarko, the Senior Manager of Renewable Energy Regulation at the Energy Commission, during the sixth edition of the Challenge held at Bechem Presbyterian Senior High School (PRESEC) in the Tano South Municipality of the Ahafo Region. The event, themed 'Sustainability for a Healthy Future,' was organized by the Commission with support from the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the Ghana TVET Service.The challenge focused on critical areas such as food security, waste management, and health delivery. Participating schools included PRESEC, Bechem Technical Institute, Acherensua SHS, Mim SHS, and Yamfo Technical Institute. Additionally, Serwaa Kesse SHS, Gyedu Technical Institute, Boakye Tromo SHTS, OLA Girls SHS, and Ahafoman SHS also took part in the competition.Mrs. Nancy Arthur, the Headmistress of Bechem PRESEC, praised the Energy Commission and its partners for organizing the challenge and congratulated the schools for their active participation.
