Eastern Naval Command Inducts New Flag Officer Commanding

Tema: The Eastern Naval Command has held an induction ceremony for its Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), Commodore Solomon Asiedu-Larbi. The event, themed 'Leading with God's Wisdom and Discernment,' took place at the Dei Arms Square, Naval Base Tema, on Sunday, 31 August 2025.

According to Ghana News Agency, the ceremony was attended by Mr. Isaac Ashai Odamtten, the Member of Parliament for Tema East Constituency; Ms. Ebi Bright, the Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive; high-ranking military officials; traditional and religious leaders; diplomatic representatives; and industry stakeholders. The stakeholders publicly pledged their support for the leadership and strategic vision of the new FOC.

Commodore Asiedu-Larbi, in his inaugural speech, pledged to uphold the Command's motto, 'Able and Dependable,' reaffirming his commitment to safeguard Ghana's maritime interests and tackle piracy and illegal fishing while fostering closer collaboration with stakeholders.

Ms. Bright also lauded the Ghana Navy for its unwavering commitment to protecting the country's maritime domain. She congratulated Commodore Asiedu-Larbi, highlighting his extensive experience and professionalism in naval operations, and expressed her confidence that under his leadership, the Navy's operational capabilities would enhance Ghana's maritime security architecture.

She emphasized the crucial functions of the Eastern Naval Command since its inception, commending the Navy's proactive measures in anti-piracy operations, maritime enforcement, and collaborative multinational exercises, indicating that these initiatives have positioned Ghana as a key maritime security player in the West African region.
