Berekum: Mr Dickson Kyere Duah, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Berekum West constituency in the Bono Region, stated that 20 communities in the area have benefited from development projects since he assumed office as MP. Over the past eight months, these communities have seen the implementation of water, educational, and health projects. Mr. Duah has pledged his commitment to addressing the development needs of his constituents further.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Duah made this pledge during a durbar attended by chiefs and residents of the area. The event was part of a working visit by Mr. Joseph Addae Akwaboah, the Bono Regional Minister. Mr. Duah highlighted that several roads in the area are set for reconstruction under the government's 'Big Push' road infrastructure development. He urged the residents to maintain their confidence in both him and the government.
As a predominantly farming area, the improvement in road networks is expected to attract investments and stimulate economic growth, thereby contributing to rapid socio-economic development. Mr. Akwaboah also revealed that plans are underway to establish a 24-hour market, which is anticipated to enhance the implementation of a 24-hour economy in the region.
Mr. Akwaboah expressed appreciation to the chiefs and residents for providing land for the market project. Upon completion, the facility is expected to generate additional job opportunities for the local population. The market project will feature a cr¨che, modern structures, washrooms, police and fire posts, and a pharmacy to support continuous operations.
Furthermore, a new fire service station is planned for the area, pending the approval of the chiefs and the identification of a suitable site for the facility.
