Burkina Faso Honors Former Ghanaian President Rawlings with Street Naming

Ouagadougou: The Government and People of Burkina Faso have named a major street in the capital, Ouagadougou, after former Ghanaian leader, Jerry John Rawlings. This tribute is part of broader commemorations that included the unveiling of a statue and Memorial Park dedicated to the late Burkinabe Leader, Captain Thomas Sankara.According to Ghana News Agency, the late former President Rawlings shared a deep friendship with Sankara, who was assassinated in a military coup d'état in 1987. The relationship between the two leaders was marked by mutual respect and admiration, influencing political dynamics in the region.The street naming ceremony was attended by a Family Delegation of former President Rawlings. The delegation was led by his daughter, Madam Yaa Asantewaa Agyeman-Rawlings, who serves as the Executive Director of the JJ Rawlings Foundation, alongside his son, Mr Kimathi Rawlings.
