Austrian Rescuers Free Teen from Tumble Dryer in Challenging Operation

M¶dling: A 13-year-old girl in Austria was successfully rescued from a tumble dryer after a challenging operation by emergency services in the Vienna suburb of M¶dling. The incident unfolded when the girl climbed into the drum of the appliance and found herself unable to exit on her own.

According to Ghana News Agency, the fire brigade was alerted on Friday evening and initially attempted to free the girl without using any specialized equipment. However, when these efforts failed, they proceeded to dismantle the dryer to access the drum.

During the rescue operation, the girl's condition reportedly worsened. A firefighter informed dpa that she began to experience pain and showed signs of distress as her eyes kept closing. This situation necessitated the use of hydraulic shears to remove the remaining panels and safely extract the girl.

Following her rescue, the teenager was transported to the hospital, where she was treated for pains in her arm, shoulder, and stomach. The reasons behind her decision to enter the dryer and the duration of her entrapment prior to the arrival of the fire brigade remain unclear.
