Atuabo Gas Processing Plant Shutdown Scheduled for Maintenance Works

Accra: The Ghana National Gas Company Limited has announced a shutdown of the Atuabo Gas Processing Plant for scheduled maintenance, set to occur from August 16 to August 30, 2025. This planned maintenance is essential to ensure the plant's safe and reliable operations.

According to Ghana News Agency, the maintenance activities have received approval from the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition. A statement issued by Mr. Richmond Rockson, Spokesperson and Head Of Communication at the Ministry, highlighted that the maintenance is a crucial part of the government's ongoing commitment to operational efficiency and enhanced performance of the plant.

During the maintenance period, the plant will undergo significant inspections, repairs, and upgrades to key equipment and systems. Consequently, Ghana Gas will temporarily suspend the supply of gas to facilitate these necessary activities.

The Ministry, in collaboration with important power sector stakeholders, has implemented comprehensive measures to mitigate any possible effects on power supply during this maintenance period. These measures include the strategic deployment of alternative fuel sources to ensure that electricity supply across the country remains stable and uninterrupted.

The statement from the Ministry also reassured the public of its commitment to maintaining reliable power supply and promised regular updates on the progress of the maintenance activities.
