Assin South: The Assin South District Assembly has provided 600 dual desks to the District Education Directorate for distribution to 40 basic schools in the area. This initiative aims to improve the teaching and learning environment across these educational institutions.
According to Ghana News Agency, the desks were handed over during a ceremony held at the District Assembly’s premises. Mr. Jonathan Birikorang, the Assin South District Chief Executive (DCE), highlighted that his regular visits to public schools in the district revealed a significant shortage of furniture, prompting this donation. He urged the beneficiary schools, including Assin Odumasi D/A Basic School, Atobiase/Kyekyewere D/A Basic School, Assin Kyenaso D/A Basic School, and Assin Sibinso Catholic Basic School, to ensure proper maintenance of the desks to extend their lifespan.
Mr. Birikorang also assured that the government remains committed to implementing policies and programs that prioritize education as a cornerstone of economic development. In addition, Mr. Isaac Opoku Inkoom, the District Director of Education, encouraged school management teams to maintain the furniture regularly and avoid selling damaged metallic parts to scrap dealers.
