Asante Mampong: The Asante Mampong Traditional Council has announced a ban on all public processions and funerals within its area of jurisdiction in preparation for the upcoming one-week observance of the late Asante Mamponghene, Daasebre Osei Bonsu II.
According to Ghana News Agency, this solemn event is set for Monday, May 12, with the restrictions remaining in effect until the final funeral rites are concluded. The decision follows the arrangements made by the Funeral Committee, led by the Adontenhene of the Traditional Council and Chief of Ejura, Barimah Osei Hwedie II.
In a statement, Barimah Osei Hwedie II urged the public to adhere to the council's directives. He noted that the date for the main funeral arrangements would be announced after further discussions with the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. He also expressed appreciation to the Queen Mother of the Asante Mampong Traditional Council, Nana Agyakomaa Difie II, and other council members for their support in the planning process.
Barimah Osei Hwedie II assured optimal security measures, revealing consultations with the Municipal Security Council (MUSEC) across the four municipalities within the traditional jurisdiction. Security personnel will be deployed in each municipality for both the one-week observation and the final funeral rites.
The Adontenhene called on the public to participate in significant numbers as a tribute to the late chief's dedication to the progress of Asanteman and Ghana.
