Accra: Archbishop Dr. Charles Agyin-Asare, Founder of Perez Chapel International, has endorsed Ghana's National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving, describing it as a crucial initiative for the nation. He emphasized the importance of spirituality in national life, highlighting that neglecting the spiritual dimension leaves a critical gap.
According to Ghana News Agency, Archbishop Agyin-Asare made these remarks during a meeting with the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving planning committee. The committee visited him to introduce its members, detail planned activities, formally invite him, and seek his blessings for the event. They also visited Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare, Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana.
The National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving aims to unite Christians, Muslims, and other religious groups under the theme: 'Reflect, Reset, and Renew for National Prosperity.' It will feature Christian prayers at the forecourt of the State House from 0800 to 1000 hours, followed by Muslim prayers at the National Mosque from 1230 to 1400 hours. The event will be observed in all 16 regions and 266 districts.
Archbishop Agyin-Asare praised the President for establishing July 1 as a National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving and for including religious leaders in this initiative. He remarked on the foundational role of religion in societal stability, alongside sectors like education, finance, sports, and entertainment.
He underscored the biblical call for consistent national prayer and the historical collaboration between spiritual and political leaders. He expressed confidence that this partnership would help the nation find its rightful place.
Archbishop Agyin-Asare prayed for the initiative's success across all regions and districts, hoping it would become a national tradition.
Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare also expressed gratitude for the President's recognition of divine contributions to the nation's peace and prosperity. He assured full support for the event and prayed for the President's success in fostering national prosperity.
