Anglican Bishop Urges Congregation to Demonstrate Faith Through Action

Bolgatanga: Right Reverend Dennis Dabukari Tong, the Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Tamale, has called upon Christians, especially Anglicans, to remain steadfast in their faith and active in service by positively responding to God's instructions toward service and humanity. "If you are steadfast in faith, it leads you to becoming active in service of the church and to humanity," he emphasized during his sermon at the Saint Cyprian's Anglican Church in Bolgatanga.According to Ghana News Agency, Bishop Tong urged believers to channel their wealth and possessions into service, stating, "We can demonstrate our faith by action. Your works must be self-explanatory, self-exhibiting, and self-demonstrating." He warned the congregation not to become overly attached to their possessions, stressing the importance of faith in God and reliance on Him alone for guidance in service.Bishop Tong further noted that God provides individuals with wealth to support humanity and cautioned against selfishness and greed. He a dvised the congregation not to let possessions control them and reminded them that life is not measured by wealth, but by how much they can use their resources to support others.Highlighting the dangers of greed, Bishop Tong explained that it could lead to chaos, confusion, and conflict when individuals prioritize their possessions over human life. He referenced 1 Timothy 6:7 as a guide for sharing and service, suggesting a nightly prayer: "I came to this world with nothing, I shall go back with nothing, so God help me to help those in need."Bishop Tong emphasized the negative implications of selfishness and greed and encouraged everyone to share their blessings. While acknowledging that being rich is not inherently wrong, he pointed out that it becomes sinful when individuals fail to share their wealth with those in need. He also reminded the congregation that the responsibility to share extends beyond individuals to include the church, which should also support members and others in need.
