Agona asafo: A renowned lawyer, Mr. Mohammed Baadei Sanu, has been installed as the new Gyantuahene of Agona Asafo under the stool name Nana Kwesi Tenkorang II. This installation aims to promote peace, unity, and youth empowerment for future development.
According to Ghana News Agency, Nana Tenkorang succeeds his late uncle, Nana Kwesi Tenkorang, who was known in private life as Professor Kwesi Botchwey, the longest-serving Finance Minister under former President Jerry John Rawlings' regime. A spokesperson for the Gyantuahene, Mr. Isaac Kojo Nti, stated that the new position would inspire Nana Tenkorang to build upon the legacy of his late uncle.
Mr. Nti expressed gratitude to the Asafoman Council of Chiefs and the citizens for their cooperation and unity, which culminated in Nana Tenkorang's elevation. He emphasized that the new Gyantuahene would serve as a mentor to the youth of Agona Asafo, with a priority on promoting education and skill training for young ladies in vocations like fashion designing and hairdressing to enhance their livelihoods.
He mentioned that acquiring skills training was crucial in the new technological era, and some youths were being trained in handling heavy-duty machines and working in the mining sector. Mr. Nti noted that ten youth from Asafo are currently employed at the New Mont Mining Company in the Bono region of Ghana, and plans are underway to organize ICT skill training for the youth.
Mr. Nti, also a mining engineer, urged the youth of Agona Asafo to avoid hard drugs such as red drug, wee, tramadol, and trapadiod, warning that such indulgence could be destructive. He also advised young ladies to abstain from immorality and lifestyles that could hinder their progression, particularly in pursuing further education, which is key to socio-economic advancement.
He conveyed that Nana Kwesi Tenkorang had vowed to unite the Aburadze family to become a formidable force for peace and development. In honor of Prof. Kwesi Botchwey, a football gala was organized, awarding trophies, cash prizes, and other accolades to the winners, best player, and best team.
