Accra: The Africa Global Chamber of Commerce (AGCC) has extended its congratulations to Dr Akwasi Opong-Fosu on his appointment as the Chairman of the Ghana Investment Promotion Center (GIPC). The Chamber recognized Dr Opong-Fosu's contributions and efforts to foster economic opportunities and advance investments in Ghana.
According to Ghana News Agency, a statement issued in Accra highlighted that this appointment by President John Dramani Mahama is seen as an inspired decision, aligning with the task of repositioning Ghana as a premier investment destination on the African continent. Dr. Olivier Kamanzi, Chairman of AGCC, remarked on Dr Opong-Fosu's leadership and credibility, which are acknowledged across public and private sectors both in Africa and internationally.
Dr. Kamanzi emphasized the long-standing collaboration between AGCC and Dr Opong-Fosu in promoting Africa's trade and investment agenda. This partnership has been notably advanced through joint engagements with the Africa Global Emergence Center and participation in high-level platforms such as the Rainbow Push Coalition African Diaspora Investment Forum and Wall Street Economic Summits, as well as the AGOA Civil Society Network and the US-Africa Trade and Investment Conference.
As Dr Opong-Fosu assumes his new role, Dr. Kamanzi expressed confidence in the value of his experience and extensive networks to GIPC's mission of catalyzing domestic and foreign direct investment. He stated AGCC's eagerness to deepen collaboration with GIPC under Dr Opong-Fosu's leadership, aiming to forge pathways that benefit both Ghana and the broader Africa-U.S. business corridor.
Dr Opong-Fosu expressed his gratitude to President Mahama for the appointment, acknowledging the confidence placed in him. He affirmed his commitment to working with fellow leaders and utilizing his insights, knowledge, and experience to advance the objectives of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre.
