Accra High Court Adjourns Charles Bissue Corruption Trial to October 29

Accra: An Accra High Court has adjourned the trial involving Mr. Charles Bissue, a former Secretary to the disbanded Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining, and two others to October 29, 2025. The trial was postponed to allow the prosecution to pursue an application for an in-camera hearing for the testimony of its first witness, an undercover investigative journalist.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Bissue and two others are accused of receiving bribes and illicit gifts to unlawfully expedite the issuance of a mining concession sticker for an unlicensed company. The charges include six counts of using public office for profit and three counts of alleged corruption by a public officer.

The Court has also scheduled the full trial to begin on January 12, 2026, with proceedings expected to continue throughout January 2026.
