Accra: Staff of the Finance and Legal teams at Absa Bank Ghana have presented braille laptops to visually impaired students at Okuapemman Senior High School. The initiative is part of the bank's ongoing Citizenship and Colleague Volunteerism efforts aimed at equipping students with Information Communication and Technology (ICT) tools.
According to Ghana News Agency, the Headmaster of the School, Reverend Richard Koranteng Afari, highlighted that the school has a student population of 3,500, which includes 49 visually impaired learners. He mentioned that the school admits 20 visually impaired students annually and has plans to expand its infrastructure and technology to accommodate up to 60 students in the future.
Reverend Afari commended the Finance and Legal teams of Absa Bank for their continued support over the past three years. 'We are striving to teach visually impaired students to use technology in this age,' he stated, emphasizing the importance of such initiatives in advancing education for visually impaired students.
