Sogakope: The leadership of the Ghana National Cadet Corps (GNCC) has inaugurated a week-long National Cadet Leadership Training Camp at Sogakope Senior High School in the Volta Region. The camp aims to foster discipline, loyalty, and patriotism among young leaders from across Ghana.
According to Ghana News Agency, the training is being conducted under the theme 'Discipline and Loyalty: A Call to Review and Reset' and has gathered 717 cadets from all 16 regions of the country. Mr. Nicholas Nii Tettey-Amarteifio, the National Cadet Coordinator General of GNCC, emphasized that the camp is designed to enhance and refresh leadership skills among cadet leaders and aspiring leaders, while reinforcing core values of discipline and patriotism.
Mr. Tettey-Amarteifio noted that the training includes instruction in fire safety, basic policing, military drills, and leadership development, aimed at strengthening the participants' sense of duty and responsibility. He acknowledged government support and called for additional assistance to make future camps more accessible, particularly for participants from remote areas.
Madam Victoria Dzeklo, South Tongu Municipal Chief Executive and Guest of Honour, representing Volta Regional Minister Mr. James Gunu, praised the initiative. She described it as a transformative experience that instills values of service, discipline, and leadership in the youth. She encouraged participants to maintain focus, resilience, and commitment throughout the training, highlighting that the challenges faced would mold them into better citizens and future leaders.
Mr. Newman Dziedzoave, Headmaster of Sogakope Senior High School, expressed gratitude for hosting the event and encouraged cadets to capitalize on the opportunity. He urged them to be patriotic, disciplined, and law-abiding, highlighting that the training would better equip them to serve their schools and communities.
The opening ceremony attracted officers from the Ghana Armed Forces, Ghana National Fire Service, and other security agencies who will support the leadership and capacity-building exercises throughout the week.
