6th August Helicopter Tragedy Children’s Support Fund Reaches GHC 2.3 Million

Accra: The Sixth August Tragedy Children's Fund, inaugurated by President John Dramani Mahama on August 15, 2025, has successfully accumulated GHS 2.3 million. This fund was established to ensure the welfare of the children of victims affected by the tragic helicopter crash that occurred on August 6.

According to Ghana News Agency, Dr. Valerie Sawyerr, Senior Presidential Advisor on Governmental Affairs and Coordinator of the Fund, issued a statement expressing gratitude towards contributors. A special acknowledgment was given to Stanbic Bank Ghana for their initial seed donation of GHS 500,000.00. The statement also appreciated the contributions from various companies, including Procus GH Limited, GB Foods Ghana, Sunda FM Manufacturing Ltd, and Sage Distribution Ltd.

Additionally, the statement recognized other contributors such as Quantum Oil Terminals, Quantum LPG Logistics Ltd, Newgas Cylinder Limited, and Quantum Terminals PLC. Donations to the Fund can be made through Stanbic Bank Ghana Limited accounts at the Stanbic Heights Branch in Accra, with specific accounts designated for Ghana Cedi (GHS) and US Dollar (USD) contributions.

Cheques and bank drafts should be addressed to: CHILDREN SUPPORT FUND 6825. Furthermore, a list of donors will be published on a weekly basis to maintain transparency and recognition of support.
